GEO Next Gen High School understands the value of providing a well-rounded athletic program to encourage and support our scholars in a team environment. It is part of our model that prepares our scholars academically as well as motivate and cultivate teamwork, togetherness and school pride. Athletics provide a foundation to build strength of character, determination and self-discipline–skills they will use throughout their lives.
Coach Michael Ingram is entering his 3rd year as athletic director at GEO Next Generation High School. He is a native of Ruleville, Mississippi, but has resided in the Greater Baton Rouge area for the past 29 years. He holds an Associate of Applied Science in Business Technology, Bachelor of Science in Business Administration, and an undergraduate Certificate in Sport Management. He has embraced the challenge to create and implement a well-rounded athletic program. Under Coach Ingram’s leadership, GEO Next Generation High School has implemented the following extracurricular activities:
- Boys’ basketball
- Girls’ basketball
GEO Next Generation High School will add Cross Country and track field events for the 2021-22 school year. Academics first, then athletics. Athletics develop self-discipline, motivation, and leadership skills that students will need to succeed in building a prosperous life.

Mid-city for the past 4 years. Coach Michael Harrel is a native of Baton Rouge, Louisiana and a graduate of Southern University Lab School-Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Coach Michael Harrel earned his Bachelor Degree In Criminal Justice from Southern University and A & M College.

Coach Tysheka Grimes’ goals are to:
- Gain chemistry and trust for one another through team bonding exercises,
- Learn basketball fundamentals with confidence, strength and determination,
- Improved basketball skills that can be observed during gameplay,
- Improved leadership skills that can be observed in the classroom and at home,
- Maintain a ‘B’ average in school
- Practice good sportsmanship in wins and losses, and WIN!
GEO Next Generation High School is proud to announce Coach Ashante Brown as assistant girls’ basketball coach. Coach Ashante Brown is a native of Baton Rouge, Louisiana and a graduate of Baker High School-Baker, Louisiana. Coach Ashante Brown earned her Bachelor of Arts in Journalism from Stillman College. High School Career (Baker High School): All State 2nd Team, All District MVP, First Team All District, All-metro State Championship Appearance 2010, and reached the 3rd Round Playoffs 2011-2012. Collegiate Career (Stillman College): Most outstanding Freshman
