GEO Next Generation High School is proud to announce Coach Tysheka Grimes as head girls’ basketball coach. Coach Tysheka Grimes is a native of Baton Rouge, Louisiana and a graduate of Capitol High School-Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Coach Tysheka Grimes earned her Bachelor of Science in Physical Education from Mississippi State University and is also a Certified Personal Trainer.

Back-to-Back State Champs (4A-2005 & 3A-2006), 4A-2005 & 3A-2006 LHSAA MVP, 2006 McDonald’s All-American Nominee, The Advocate Girls Basketball Star of Stars Award (2005), United States Army Exceptional Student-Athlete Award (2006), All-Metro MVP (4A-2005 & 3A-2006), Capitol High School Most Improved Award (2003), Capitol High School MVP 2004, 2005, & Co-MVP 2006, All-State 1st Team (4A-2005 & 3A-2006), 4A All-State 2nd Team (2004) All-Metro (2nd Team: 4A-2004, 1st Team: 4A-2005, 3A-2006), All-District (2nd Team: 4A-2004, 1st Team: 4A-2005, & 3A-2006).

Collegiate Career
(Mississippi State University):

SEC Freshman of The Week (Dec 2006), Mississippi State University Most Improved Award (2007), Best Rebounder Award (205 rebounds in 2008), Coach’s Award (09-2010), Mississippi State University Women’s Basketball Top 25 Scorers. Proud member of Mississippi State University Women’s Basketball Team NCAA 1st Sweet 16 appearance.

Coach Tysheka Grimes’ goals are to:

  • Gain chemistry and trust for one another through team bonding exercises,
  • Learn basketball fundamentals with confidence, strength and determination,
  • Improved basketball skills that can be observed during gameplay,
  • Improved leadership skills that can be observed in the classroom and at home,
  • Maintain a ‘B’ average in school
  • Practice good sportsmanship in wins and losses, and WIN!
